Ash Ketchum (or Satoshi), along with his trusted partner Pikachu, set out on a journey to become the best among the rest. Pokémon: The Name Etymology The name Pokémon is the romanized contraction of the Japanese brand Pocket Monsters (ポケットモンスター Poketto Monsutā).
