Beast Master or Bīsuto Masutā is a shōjo romantic comedy manga by Kyousuke Motomi. Shogakukan in Betsucomi published this manga and collected it in two tankōbon volumes. Viz Media licensed Beast Master and its original run was from 2006 to 2007.
Yuiko Kubozuka is a high school student who loves animals, though animals unfortunately hate her and flee from her whenever possible. When Leo Aoi, a strange student with a terrifying expression transfers to Yuiko’s class, she learnt that he is actually innocent, sweet-natured and animals like him. However, when attacked, Leo unconsciously becomes as violent as a bloodthirsty animal.
Leo quickly becomes strongly attached to Yuiko, who is his first friend. They fall in love with one another, but circumstances regarding Leo’s family situation threaten to separate them. Leo Aoi looks like a crazy animal with wild eyes, and he goes berserk whenever he feels threatened and sees blood.
Truly, this story somewhat tells us about the romance relationship between a normal human and a monster. For those who are deeply in love with romance story, Beast Master will fit the bill. Besides, you won’t get bored with this manga since it only consists of two volumes.
What you will like about Beast Master
She is easy going and well liked by her peers. Based on my personal opinion, Yuiko is also brave, since she is the one who can get along well with Leo. However, she is bad in Mathematics. She can barely add 2+2 (which is 4 as we all know 😆😆😆)
His sharp eyes totally resembles those of the beast. However, you will feel like his personalities are absolutely in contrast with his apperance. He is cute and childish. I’ve found myself attracted to his tsundere style, which is cool outside and soft inside. Don’t all of us feel the same??😊😊😊
This is one of the best romantic-comedy manga. Really, you’ve gotta try to read it and you will say the same thing. Beast Master manga isn’t too serious at all. There will be a little comedy scene which will entertain you as the story flows. But, I should admit that the comedy isn’t as sharp as Motomi’s latest and previous work.
First of all, who doesn’t love the word “bonus”??? 😶😶😶 Bet that everyone will like it!!! To satisfy the readers, Motomi decided to add bonus stories along with this manga. The two of them are unrelated one-shots and the others are quite long. However, I should say that I’m satisfied enough with this bonus service.
Illustration of Beast Master
The difference between Motomi’s past masterpiece and Beast Master quite contradicts in the illustration. We can see that the art in Beast Master is more rough and detailed rather than her past works. Moreover, Motomi did not forget to include cute chibi figures. Honestly, I’d like to say that Motomi has her own personal art style, which distinguish her manga from the others.
Overall, what I can tell you is that this manga is truly one of my faves. Plus, the two lead characters make this manga more lovable. If you are a big fan of Motomi, you should definitely read this and Dengeki Daisy. Truthfully, they’re awesome!!! 👍👍👍
