Three light novels were also released on Boruto story – The New Konoha Ninja Flying In the Blue Sky, A Call From the Shadows, Who Illuminate the Night of Shinobi.

Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, a Naruto game, has a chapter Road to Boruto included. This game was released on Sony Playstation PS3, PS4 and PSN, Microsoft XBOX 360, ONE and Live Consoles and PC through Steam.

Introduction

Boruto: Naruto Next Generation‘s manga and anime are actually centers on the era after 4th great ninja war. Its main character is the son of seventh Hokage, Naruto Uzumaki, and Princes Hinata Hiuga. Himawari is his sister. This series’ main character is none other than Boruto as the title suggests though the story also gives spotlight to his friends.

The story in the anime and manga is a bit different. Manga timeline takes place after the Chunin exam while the anime’s  timeline takes place from the Boruto’s first day at school.

The main characters in this anime are (1) Boruto son of Naruto, (2) Hinata, Sarada daughter of Sasuke and Sakura, and (3) Mitsuki son of Orochimaru. Other supporting characters are all Boruto’s friends and classmates such as:

  • Himawari Naruto’s daughter
  • Shikadai, son of Shikamaru and Temari
  • Inojin son of Sai and Iino
  • Chocho daughter of Choji and Karui
  • Shinki Yodo Araya are Gara’s children
  • Metal Lee son of Rock Lee Iwabe and Sumire

Synopsis

So many years have passed since fourth great ninja war. Naruto’s dream came true and he is now the seventh Hokage of the Leaf Village. Hinata Hyuga is his wife. Naruto’s next generation is already here. As mentioned, Boruto Sarada and Mitsuki are the center of the story.

Manga and anime both start with the same scene. Boruto in his teenage years standing in front of another person named Kawaki who, destroyed the Leaf village and both of them were standing on the carved face of The Seventh Hokage on the mountain. Kawaki says that he will send him where he sent The Seventh Hokage. A whole scene is an event that takes place in the further future. According to Kawaki, he defeated Naruto. Whether he killed him or sealed him to some dimension, it’s not clear though. As we all know, Naruto is full of twist upon twists. So it may reveal in the future episodes about that incident.

Anime

In the anime, Boruto Sarada and Mitsuki are classmates along with the other supporting characters while Shino Abarame is their class teacher. Boruto hates his father because he is always busy at the Hokage’s office and he never has time to spend with his family. Boruto doesn’t like to be acknowledged as a Hokage’s son. His character is totally different than Naruto’s and more like Sasuke. Boruto always likes to be around with his friend and help them. The story of the anime is still immature. It’s just the story of Boruto and his friends’ various adventure just like the original Naruto series and still developing the characters through the story.

Manga

On the other hand, the manga is pretty ahead of the anime. It seems that defeating Kaguya Otsutsuki in fourth ninja war is not enough. There are others like Kaguya and are even stronger than her. Although Boruto, with the help of Sasuke and Naruto, defeats Momoshiki who is one of the Otsutsukis and receives a cursed mark in his palm, there remains to be another secret organization: “Kara” which seems to have some kind of connection with the Otsutsuki’s. The cursed mark that appeared in Boruto’s palm seems to have relation with the Kara’s.

To Conclude

Boruto anime is still developing the characters and the plot. The series is still ongoing though it already has 34 episodes. Although the manga has advanced a lot and is getting pretty interesting, I still have high hopes for the anime. I think the story is going to be more exciting and full of twists. The thing that amazes me is to find out about the new character’s parents. It seems funny but when I find a love story that developed in the previous sequel and ended successfully in this series, it really makes me happy. The most exciting part is finding out how their children are too much identical to their parents. I just hope they don’t fill this series up with the fillers like Naruto and Naruto Shippuden.
