Cardcaptor Sakura

Cardcaptor Sakura: A Review By Earl Part 2

Posted Leave a commentPosted in Anime

As you may have seen last week, I’ve posted Part I of my Cardcaptor Sakura review. I covered some of the basics of the anime there. I suggest you read it first before continuing to this review. Without delaying it any further, here’s Part 2! Cardcaptor Sakura: The Comical Side Of Things The series has a surprising knack for clever comedic timing and delivery. Not necessarily to a gut-busting level, but certainly to a point where it’s even funnier than your run-in-the-mill anime series. The show knows how to emphasize a joke without explaining what it meant. As is clear from almost the first scene, Sakura’s older brother Touya teases her for being a “monster”. When Sakura loudly retorts that she doesn’t stomp around, the camera emphasizes her feet and the sound design makes it feel explosive – in other terms like she’s on a stomping […]

Cardcaptor Sakura: A Review By Earl Part 1

Brand new animes are going on air this 2018! There’s some more Overlord, some Seven Deadly Sins and another Fate series. Then, there was one anime announcement that stood out the most, was Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card-hen. Well, another that stood out for me was Fairy Tail for 2018, but that’s for another article. Considering the age of the average anime fan, myself included, it would probably mandatory for me to explain what exactly this is first. A 70-episode anime series about a girl named Sakura Kinomoto is what Cardcaptor Sakura is all about. The anime series was adapted from the manga by CLAMP and produced by Madhouse, from 1998 into the year 2000. Everyone welcomed the anime with open arms. Yes, that includes both boys and girls. Until now, the fan base is still pretty much alive. However, 18 long years is indeed a […]

D.N. Angel: A Review On Daisuke’s Thieving Chronicles

Posted Leave a commentPosted in Anime

Daisuke Niwa, D.N. Angel’s lead, has an unusual curse running in his blood. It’s been a tradition that every Niwa male undergoes a certain transformation on their 14th birthday into the infamous phantom thief, Dark. Dark is an angel that makes all the ladies swoon. Well, in a man’s perspective, I really don’t understand why the girls swoon over Dark. Furthermore, he steals cursed artifacts and paintings from museums under the guise of mere profit.   He sends in warnings to the target ahead of time to generate attention and feel his ego. Sounds like a bit of a narcissist, right? Police Chief Commander, Satoshi Hiwatari, does everything he can to catch the phantom thief. That’s pretty much a short summary about D.N. Angel, now let’s go to the purpose of this article. The review portion! D.N. Angel: Short Overview Niwa’s transformation happens when he […]

A sneak peek Earl & Fairy is also known as Hakushaku no yousei. It was first published as a light novel in 2004 and then it was adapted into a manga and an anime series in 2008. I have watched the anime and took a glance at the manga but haven’t read the light novel yet. I have found out that the anime and manga are different from each other in many ways!!! All the characters are the same in both adaptations but with a great difference in the plot. For now allow me to review the anime with you guys The story Earl & Fairy took place in the 19th century – Victorian era – where fairy doctors became rare to find. Lydia Carlton is a fairy doctor living in Scotland among people who doesn’t believe in fairies so she struggles everyday trying to […]

A Review On Kiba: An Anime Based On A TCG

Posted Leave a commentPosted in Anime

Great and high memorable anime series can originate from a ton of factors. Some come as adaptations of manga, some from light novels, and some from games or even from original adaptations. What’s amazingly rare, is finding a great, deep, and dark show that originated from a TCG (trading card game). Kiba (2006) is just one of them. Unlike most shows of the genre, Hiroshi Kojina (director) stated that “(the series) absolutely won’t have any plot elements that curry favor to children.” He further added, “Kiba won’t be the type of show to put ‘human drama’ on the back burner.” With words like that coming from the creative team, and a studio like Madhouse handling animation, Kiba managed to become what perhaps no anime of its type could. Something more than its TCG basis.   The real problem is how it compares to other shounen-action-fantasy […]

It does have an anime adaptation, though it is only composed of 12 episodes. Let’s start reviewing this anime from the beginning.   The Story in Dance with Devils Ritsuka Tachibana, a seemingly normal school girl suddenly finds herself entangled in a conflict between devils and vampires at her school. Both sides believe she is the last remaining key to discovering the location of the forbidden grimoire.  This grimoire seems to be a powerful item that will give mastery over the world. Thus, it is crucial to obtain it first. The genre : Romance, Musical, Harem, Supernatural, Demons, Vampires.   Its Plot I find Dance with […]
