As you may have seen last week, I’ve posted Part I of my Cardcaptor Sakura review. I covered some of the basics of the anime there. I suggest you read it first before continuing to this review. Without delaying it any further, here’s Part 2! Cardcaptor Sakura: The Comical Side Of Things The series has a surprising knack for clever comedic timing and delivery. Not necessarily to a gut-busting level, but certainly to a point where it’s even funnier than your run-in-the-mill anime series. The show knows how to emphasize a joke without explaining what it meant. As is clear from almost the first scene, Sakura’s older brother Touya teases her for being a “monster”. When Sakura loudly retorts that she doesn’t stomp around, the camera emphasizes her feet and the sound design makes it feel explosive – in other terms like she’s on a stomping […]

Breakdown Long a well known and popular video game franchise, Castlevania finally steps into the realm of anime. One might argue that the source material has long been perfect for anime and they wouldn’t be wrong. With the video games practically spanning their own genre, does this anime live up to that legacy? In fact, is it fit for both fans and the uninitiated alike? Vampires, a demigod version of count Dracula and a trip into an Eastern Europe as Gothic as it could possibly get. Read on to see what we thought about this anime and if its worth your time. Synopsis Its the 15th century and Eastern Europe is as stereotypical as it gets. Dark, gloomy cities of sprawling Gothic architecture and foul mouthed, superstitious peasants looking for the next excuse to vent their frustrations abound. The church reigns supreme with an iron grip […]
Shiki is an adaptation of a manga which itself is an adaptation of a novel series. The anime was aired on July 8, 2010. There is only one season of 22 episodes. The genre : vampire, demons, horror, action, mystery, supernatural and thriller. The story Shiki is about a village in rural Japan called ” Sotoba “. In the village, mysterious accidents started to happen. People are getting sick and then they are found dead with the cause of their sickness unknown!!! A doctor and a priest started to look into these mysterious events to solve the mystery and save the people. The plot I liked Shiki‘s plot a lot. It was of a good and unique idea. The plot kept the viewers on their toes. For around 10 episodes we weren’t able to figure out what was wrong with people and what was causing their […]
Breakdown Shakespeare once said that ‘all the world’s a stage and all the men and women in it merely actors’. Similarly, numerous psychologists and sociologists have spoken about the concept of ‘self’. Do we really show our true self in our daily interactions with others or are they all finely crafted masks? Do we even know our true self and the person we really are as much as we’d like to think? It’s questions like these that Persona 4 the video game and by extension its anime presents to its audience. In fact, it’s there in the very lyrics of the theme song ‘Pursuing My True Self’. Is Persona 4 The Animation worth the watch or should you pass on it? Read on to find out what we thought! Synopsis With his parents working overseas a young Yu Narukami finds himself sent from the city to […]
